Nadiya Jamir Hussain

Nadiya Jamir Hussain MBE (née Begum; born 25 December 1984) is a British television chef, author and television presenter. She rose to fame after winning the sixth series of BBC's The Great British Bake Off in 2015. Since winning, she has signed contracts with the BBC to host the documentary The Chronicles of Nadiya and TV cookery series Nadiya's British Food Adventure and Nadiya's Family Favourites; co-presented The Big Family Cooking Showdown; and has become a regular contributor on The One Show. Hussain is a columnist for The Times Magazine and has signed publishing deals with Penguin Random House, Hodder Children's Books and Harlequin. She has appeared as a guest panellist on ITV's Loose Women. She was invited to bake a cake for the 90th birthday celebrations of Elizabeth II. In 2017, Hussain was named by Debrett's as one of the 500 most influential people in the UK and was on BBC News' 100 Women list. She was also shortlisted for Children's Book of the Year prize at the British Book Awards for Bake Me A Story and was nominated for Breakthrough Star at the Royal Television Society Awards for The Chronicles of Nadiya. Ted Cantle, the author of a government report on community cohesion, said Hussain had done "more for British-Muslim relations than 10 years of government policy".

Afshan Noor Azad-Kazi

Azad is known for her performances as Padma Patil in five of the Harry Potter films, starting with 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She acquired the role when casting agents visited her school and, after having attended several auditions, chose her for the part. Azad had stated that she had auditioned "just for the fun of it" and surprisingly got the part. In 2017, Azad guest presented an episode of the CBBC series Marrying Mum & Dad with Ed Petrie whilst Naomi Wilkinson was away.

Anwar Bakht Choudhury

Anwar Bakht Choudhury (Bengali: আনোয়ার বখত চৌধুরী; born 15 June 1959) is a British diplomat of Bangladeshi origin. His roles have included; Governor of the Cayman Islands, British Ambassador to Peru, Director of International Institutions at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Husna Ahmad

From June 2006 to March 2013, Ahmad was CEO of Faith Regen Foundation. She was a member of Faith Regen Foundation's staff since its inception in October 2001 and has previously held the position of director of operations. Ahmad sits on the advisory board of the East London Mosque. She held the role of deputy chief executive of the Forum against Islamophobia and Racism and was a principal officer in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. She previously sat on the Department for Work and Pensions' Ethnic Minority Advisory Group (EMAG). She is also on the Community Development Forum of the London Health Commission. She has been appointed co-chair of the National Council of Faiths and Beliefs in Further Education. In March 2005, Ahmad was on the judging panel for The Muslim News Awards for Excellence. In 2008, she was a member of a Ministerial Working Group on Child Poverty in London. In 2011, she co-authored The Green Guide For Hajj, with EcoMuslim consultant Omar Faruk, the book encourages ecologically sustainable practices among Hajj pilgrims and promotes the role Muslims can play in protecting nature. In 2012, she wrote Islam and Water, the story of Hajjar second wife of the Islamic prophet Ibrahim, in particular her search for water, which is commemorated every year in the Hajj. Both books were commissioned by the Alliance of Religions and Conservation.

Andy Miah

Miah is Chair in Science Communication and Future Media at the University of Salford. Here he set up the Scicomm Space, a platform for Science Communication and Future Media to engage staff and students across the University to work in partnership with creative practitioners and industry partners, including the delivery of a transdisciplinary MSc course. He is also a Fellow for the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, Fellow at FACT, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, Liverpool and Global Director for the Centre for Policy and Emerging Technologies. His research discusses ethical and cultural issues arising from new technologies and is informed by an interest in applied philosophy, technology, and culture. He has contributed to various international projects, including the European Union inquiry into Human Enhancement and projects based at The Hastings Center, where he was a Visiting Scholar in 2002. Miah has published over 130 research papers, including articles in Nature, The Lancet, the Journal of Medical Ethics, CTHEORY, and Studies in Ethics, Law and Technology. He has also written for leading newspapers, including The Observer, The Times, The Washington Post, the Huffington Post, and The Guardian. He has interviewed for over 100 media outlets include the flagship television news programmes in the UK (BBC, Newsnight), Canada (CBC, The National) and Australia (ABC, The 7:30 Report) where he is frequently called on to discuss humanity's use of technology in the future. He has also appeared on numerous radio programmes, recently BBC Radio 4's Start the Week with Andrew Marr. Miah is an Editorial board member for numerous journals and is Associate Editor for New Media & Communications in Studies in Ethics, Law and Technology and Associate Editor for the International Journal of Technoethics. In recent years, he has developed the field of BioArt and was Chair of the Posthumanism theme and Executive Committee member for the 2009 International Symposium of Electronic Art. He is also part of the organizing team for the Abandon Normal Devices festival of new cinema and digital culture, which developed from the cultural programme of the London 2012 Olympics and 2012 Paralympic Games. He is also curator of the University of Salford's delivery within Manchester Science Festival and sits on the steering group for Manchester 2016 European City of Science. He is also a member of the Scottish Government's Ministerial Advisory Group for Digital Participation. In 2020 he was appointed to the Board of the British Esports Association and Commission Member of the Global Esports Federation.

Reshmin Chowdhury

Reshmin Chowdhury (Bengali: রেশমিন চৌধুরী; born 16 December 1977) is a British-Bangladeshi sports journalist broadcaster and event host. She currently lead presents live Premier League football on Talksport every Saturday morning in GameDay Exclusive. She presents live coverage of The Women’s Super League and the Women’s Football Show for BBC Sport. She has worked across all football coverage for BT Sport for 8 years, most notably the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa Conference League. She fronted coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games with Eurosport and Discovery Plus and presented for ITV Sport during UEFA Euro2020.

Choudhry

Choudhry was formerly Head of Business Treasury, Global Banking and Markets at Royal Bank of Scotland plc. Before joining RBS, He was Head of Treasury at Europe Arab Bank, a subsidiary of Arab Bank. He joined there from KBC Financial Products in London, the derivatives and convertible bond trading arm of KBC Bank N.V., Brussels. Prior to that he was a vice-president in Structured Finance Services sales and marketing at JPMorgan Chase Bank, a sterling proprietary trader in the Treasury division at Hambros Bank Limited, and a Gilt-Edged Market Maker and money markets trader at ABN Amro Hoare Govett Limited. He began his City career at the London Stock Exchange in 1989. Also, he is on the advisory board of Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) where he is regularly involved in meetings regarding the financial and monetary system.

Nasim Ali

Nasim 'Nash' Ali, OBE (Bengali: নাসিম আলী; born 7 February 1969) is a British Labour Party politician, councillor for Regent's Park, former Cabinet Member for Young People in Camden Council and former Mayor of Camden. In May 2003, at the age of 34, after being elected Mayor of Camden, he became the UK's youngest mayor, as well as the first Bangladeshi and first Muslim mayor.
